Swaziserve, Inc. is a USA 501 (c)3 organization serving vulnerable populations in developing countries, primarily in southern Africa.

John and Kay West answered God’s call on their lives to serve as missionaries in southern Africa and founded Swaziserve in 2009. John’s Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a career working in the corporate business world and Kay’s Master’s in Counseling degree and social work background were and are insufficient. Even Kay’s complementary role as International Leadership Developer/Global Prison Ministry Liaison for Moms in Prayer International is possible only through God’s equipping. John serves as treasurer for Swaziserve and Kay serves as board president. John and Kay know full well that they are not qualified for the work God has laid before them. But he said to [us],“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore [we] will boast all the more gladly about [our] weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on [us]. " 2 Corinthians 12:9

Tom and Doreen Strohm, founding board members of Swaziserve, were also the founders and directors of   Jesus Cares Ministries (JCM)  in 1980. Since Tom’s passing in 2021, Doreen and JCM continue to reach out to individuals and families in crisis through various programs. The ministry is committed to repairing, rebuilding, and restoring individuals, families and communities, emphasizing the networking of churches and parachurch organizations under the Lordship and direction of Jesus Christ in order to reach out more effectively to the issues today including teen pregnancy, homelessness and benevolence, addictions and the aftermath, domestic violence and grief and trauma.

John and Margaret Guthrie have independently served on many short-term mission trips for over 20 years, and Margaret has been an active part of the ministry of Swaziserve since its beginning. John and Margaret married in 2021 so they now serve together, knowing how beautifully the Lord has helped and blessed countless people, here and in Africa through Swaziserve.
